Turning a Passion into Qualifications

If you’ve followed my blog / instagram for a while now, you’ll know that I am a massive dog lover. I would probably say obsessed, but there are worst things to be obsessed with than fluffy bundles of fun so I’m not going to apologise for it haha! I’ve got four, four- legged family friends, and will 100% be getting my own once I move into my own house / dog friendly flat. At the moment, I am tiding my time over with lot’s of visits home to see my dogs, and I’ve also signed up to the Gudog app to walk / look after other peoples dogs.

In the future, I definitely want to be working with dogs at some point. Whether this is further into the future or not, I have no clue – but I have decided to start studying an online college course on Canine Science and Dog Training to get some experience and qualifications beforehand and I’m so excited to start!

I’ve just enrolled and will be able to get started soon! You may be wondering: “Aren’t you already in University studying a degree, why study something else completely different?!”. I’m lucky enough to spend my third year of University in a full time paid 12 month placement, which I’ve decided is an amazing time to give myself some even more work because I never make life easy for me…

In all seriousness, The Open Study College – which you can browse around their website¬†here, offers over 550 different online courses you can enrol in. And the best part is that it’s completely flexible and you work at your own pace. They provide you with all the materials and tutor support, and you can set your deadlines and complete it in your own time! This isn’t sponsored, but I’m just so excited to get going and think it is a really good opportunity for people who are super busy, and have other commitments and may think they aren’t able to learn in the normal traditional way. I will definitely be treating this course as a hobby, and I know I will love it already.

I’ll be studying Canine Science and Dog Training, which are two courses but bundled together. I can complete it as quickly or as slowly as I like, as long as it’s within two years. I can’t wait to keep you all updated on this new journey so watch this space!

In the meantime, if anyone has done anything similar then let me know! I’d love to hear how others have found it!

Thanks for reading!

Until next time…
